FAQ
FAQ
Plain answers before you send a track.
What is the difference between mixing and mastering?
Mixing works with the individual tracks, stems and musical elements of a song. It shapes the balance between vocals, drums, bass, instruments, space and movement.
Mastering works with the final stereo mix. It prepares the track for release by shaping final tone, loudness, translation and export quality.
What is stem mastering?
Stem mastering works from grouped stems instead of one stereo mix. It gives more control over vocals, drums, bass, music or effects when the mix is already close, but still needs final balance before release.
Can you work with AI-generated music?
Yes. Unsaid Records works with AI-generated tracks, AI-assisted productions and projects that combine human and AI-generated elements. The work is manual and focused on cleaning, rebalancing, remastering or rebuilding the audio into a cleaner, more controlled and release-ready version.
Do you guarantee distributor approval for AI music?
No. I can improve quality, reduce obvious issues and prepare stronger release files, but final approval depends on distributor rules, platform policies, rights, metadata and detection systems.
What files should I send?
It depends on the service. In general, send WAV or AIFF files where possible. For mixing, export tracks or stems from the same start point. For mastering, send the final stereo premaster without heavy compression, limiting or clipping on the master bus. For AI projects, send the original render and any separated stems available.
For production or rebuild work, MIDI, references, demos, DAW exports or extra notes may also help. See the File Preparation Guidelines page for the full checklist, or send what you have and I will tell you what is missing.
How many revisions are included?
Revision rounds depend on the service and project scope. Standard work usually includes at least one reasonable revision round unless agreed otherwise. Extra revisions or changes outside the agreed scope may require an additional quote.
How long does it take?
Turnaround depends on the service, project complexity and current schedule. Mastering is usually delivered within 1–3 days. Release Pre-Flight QC is usually delivered within 1 day. Mixing for one track usually takes 2–5 days, depending on track count, vocal work, edits and revision needs. Stem Mastering, AI Stems Remastering, rebuilds and production work are quoted depending on the amount of material and the condition of the files.
If you have a deadline, mention it when you send the track.
Can labels or managers get custom pricing?
Yes. Labels, managers and artist teams can request custom pricing for multiple releases, albums, EPs, catalog polishing, Pre-Flight QC packages or ongoing work.
Is AI Stems Remastering the same as automatic AI mastering?
No. AI Stems Remastering is manual audio work on AI-generated or hybrid material. It may include cleaning, balancing, artifact reduction, tonal shaping, stem repair and final polish. The goal is not automatic loudness, but a cleaner, more controlled and release-ready version of the track.
